This is pretty much finished.  It still needs a little setup work and I may end up changing the electronics a bit.

The facts:
Figured koa on mahogany body
Wenge neck shaft with ebony board
Hipshot A bridge and Gotoh tuners
Villex passive pickups with mid - cut.

I got the Villex pickups from Tubby Twins.  Great growl and very burpy.  So far, I'm not sold on the mid cut function, though the passive cut is just fine.  I may end up adding an active pre down the road, but I'm going to live with it for a while first.

Gorgeous!

I don't usually use the Villex mid-cut control at all.  I can imagine it would work nicely on a fretted bass if you wanted a nice scooped slap tone.

Let me know how the pickups work out in the long term.  I've also got a set of Bartolini soapbars that would fit.  :)

That's a beautiful 6, man.  I am honestly intimidated by a 6 in general... do you think you'll make full use of it?

I'm distracted by your deck, though, since I'm right in the middle of updating mine.  My guitar-building tools are being used for deck railings... sheesh.

I spent the morning refinishing the deck and the evening finishing the bass.  Had to show off both!  We'll see how much use it gets.  I've been shedding a lot on my upright and that is definitely translating to my intonation on this bass.

I've weighed the bass here at work and she comes in at 11lbs 10oz.  Pretty heavy, but a wide strap helps mitigate that.  Good thing I work out a lot.....

The last thing to do is give her a name.  I don't know why, but 'Mary' was the first thing to come to mind....

That's an insane slab of Koa!  I've never been brave enough to commit to fretless nor 6 strings, but that looks like one of those instruments that demands you play it.  What kind of string spacing did you go with?
