Footswitch for Zoom G2.1u

Hey guys,
i have a Zoom G2.1u multi-effects pedal which is a really good, cheap and useful pedal, although it lacks a very important feature to me, i.e an on/off switch for the patches! That means that when the power switch on the back of the thing is turned on, there's no way you can turn off the effect without turning of the pedal itself, to my understanding at least. Does anyone know if it could be done?
Since i suppose it cannot be done, i thought that i could just buy an on/off footswitch to plug in the control in socket.
Which pedal should i use?

I think what you want is one of these...

It's a bypass switch. You plug your guitar and the the input to your effects pedal on one side, then the output of the effects pedal and your amp on the other. Switched one way, your signal goes through the effect and out to the amp. Switched the other, your guitar goes straight to the amp.

It's usually used for effects that don't have a "true" bypass, which sounds like the situation you have.

If you are at all interested in building pedals, this is the simplest one there is.  It is a very helpful pedal if you have something loved, but is noisy.  Still, it's quite easy to make yourself, but you have to have an interest in it, otherwise building these things is close to torture.

Mmm i'm not sure i would need one of those. I mean the pedal has three ins allready, input, output and control in. the control in one should serve the very purpose i'm after, i.e acting like a normal on/off footswitch. But i can't find any info about it or which footswitches are compatible with the pedal.

Ok, so I looked it up, and according to the manual, available here, the left footswitch is for "bypass" on that pedal.
 Thank you Cagey! Right now it won't let me open the .pdf file for some reason. However, does the info you read on the manual mean that a simple footswitch like this http://www.thomann.de/it/lead_foot_fs_1.htm will do, or do i have to buy the "official zoom g2.1u pedal with official stickers and official T-shirts for only 99.99 dollars!!"?  :icon_biggrin:

I have these units ..  :icon_thumright:  well I got the Bass and the Acoustic one's, use to have that other one.

I just have one of these switches.

You DON'T need the Zoom one.
I have a Zoom one as well and it's just like the one above.

**taken from manual.
Connecting an optional foot switch (FS01) to the [CONTROL IN] jack of the G2.1u allows bank switching in play mode.
It is also possible to switch bypass/mute on and off, control the tap tempo function, or perform other functions with the foot switch.

This might help  :dontknow:  http://www.zoom.co.jp/faq/g21u
