Cheers from France !

A dream of mine finally became true a few days ago : I received my first Warmoth custom body and neck.
I won't use lot of words here... I'll just show you some pictures, for the pleasure of your eyes.

Body
Standard Jazzmaster®
Right handed, countoured Heel, 720 Mod. Neck Pocket
Rear Rout Walnut Body
Flame Maple Laminated, Tobacco Burst, Top DT Clear Masked Binding
Wilkinson Tremolo Bridge
Neck Pickup : Seymour Duncan SH-2N
Bridge Pickup : Seymour Duncan SH-1B

Neck
Walnut CBS Stratocaster® Neck, 25-1/2 in., 24 Fret
10-16" Compound radius, Wizard Back Contour
Headstock : Top Flame Maple Laminated, Tobacco Burst finish, Schaller Tuners
Fingerboard : Ebony, Pearloid Nightswan Inlays, Fretwire 6105
White Corian Earvana Compensated Nut (Width : 1 3/4")

The only regret I have here is to have taken the 720 mod : it brings the strings awfully high, even if the bridge is at the lowest possible position. (well, I just won't take the 720 mod the next time  :icon_biggrin:)

Do you mean the strings are high off the fretboard? I'm not sure why the 720 mod would do that.

Maybe the neck has too much relief? Have you adjusted the truss rod?

Well, I'm not really sure of the reason, but yes, the strings are high off the fretboard... not TOO high, but at least 2mm (0.1 inch) more than necessary when the wilkinson bridge is the lowest, which is enough to annoy me  :toothy11: (as anybody who is used to low action, I guess).
For sure, I haven't adjusted the truss rod yet. I brought it to a luthier monday, who told me that he will probably have to angle the neck (add an angle between the neck and the body, I'm not sure that is the right word) a tiny bit. I'm pretty confident, anyway

That is the most beautiful Jazzmaster I have ever seen!! (if only the fretboard was naked  :laughing7:)

Yes, if adjusting the trussrod doesn't work, you could shim the neck a little!

Well if the 720 mod lowers the neck pocket then the neck would sit lower in the body of the guitar effectivly raising the action. At least that is how I see it.

That's what I'm thinking too.

That is without a doubt the best looking Jazz Master that I have seen  :glasses9:
I have never seen the rear routed JM and I am lovin' it.  It is just flippin' beautiful...
I also tend to like the naked necks, but you did not build it for me so you go with it.
Damn, now I am thinking that I need a Jazz Master.
Thanks for helping to empty my future bank account...

All probably the only thing you need is to adjust the truss rod.  Unfortunatly the way your neck is built, it looks like you need to take it off to do any adjusting.  But don't fret (bad pun alert), I'm sure that with a little tweaking on the truss rod, and perhaps a neck shim (which won't be too hard since you are taking off the neck anyway, your guitar should play like butter.  Try adjusting the rod so that when you have the first and the seventeenth frets fretted, you have .010" of relief over the seventh and eighth frets.  That is always a great place to start. Then if your action is still too high, shim a little on the neck (deepest part of the neck pocket).  I bet that will make a world of difference.

An absolutely stunning build, and very original!  BIG congrats on thought and execution of your project!  A good luthier will iron out the action issues, and will have you happily running all over with that beauty around your neck.  You MUST enter that into the next monthly build contest - it's a sure winner!  *I* wouldn't cover that gorgeous headstock with a Fender decal......but, you're not making it for me  :laughing7:  Keep the pics (and sound samples) coming  :glasses10:

Thats strange about the 720 mod issues. I have the same set up on one of my warmoths. wilk trem with 720 mod. and my action is hella low. no problems at all. keep us updated on the progress of getting your action low!!!

PS: NIGHTSWAN!!!!!!!!!!! rocks

I think so too. I would imagine for some bridges it would be a less than ideal option. Some have greater lattitude for height adjustment. I wonder if you'll need to shim, I would think adjusting the neck angle would be more effective than any trussrod adjustment, in this case.
