First step into pickups. Just ordered a House of Tone Humbucker!

Feel really happy right now! I just ordered my first ever pickup to replace the bridge humbucker in my HSS Kramer. The guy over at House of Tone is great. We worked out everything in less than 24 hours, which is pretty good for communicating between the UK and Australia. So here is what I'm getting:

• House of Tone Steel House Humbucker
• Alnico 8
• Black Bobbins
• Bridge Pickup
• 4 conductor (just in case I want to put a push/pull pot in this eventually)

I'm really looking forward to this (in case you couldn't tell). I might post some before and after sounds through my Vox AmPlug Metal.

Now, just a question. What should I look for in a soldering iron for doing this myself?

Thee pickup just arrived today, super stoked. One thing I realised is how heavy they are, I wouldn't have thought it beforehand but now that I have it in person it makes more sense.

The company were pretty cool with the stuff that I got with it:

They should sound awesome. I'm not able to install them until the weekend.  ??? ??? And I only have a Vox amPlug metal, but they should sound awesome once I get an amp at the end of the year. Looking at the Orange Micro Dark...

Installed the pickup today. It's incredibly good compared to the last pickup that was in there. Soldering was not too difficult to do, I've had some experience soldering with flames before so this wasn't too different (a little bit finicky).

So the pickup. It sounds very good clean (in humbucker mode, I haven't got a coilsplit option yet), though I only really have my last pickup to compare against and using Guitar Rig 5 Demo doesn't make for the best tones. It's a lot less muddier and very crisp when the tone is up. I recorded a little bit of me playing in a couple of different styles if you want to check out. It isn't the best and I'm probably out of tune a little however...
