So today was the first time that I have ever played in front of complete strangers.  We were just supposed to play 3 songs but as we began, I realized that someone had inadvertently messed with the settings on the amp i was plugged into and no one could hear my guitar but me.  Also, my bass player must have hit his tuner on something (as we were cramped under a tent due to the rain) and knocked himself way out of tune.  Luckily this was a very informal gathering, so after a minute we knew something was wrong and we had to stop and start over.  We fixed the issues and the rest of it went pretty well.  We finished with China Grove and I had to improvise the solo a little to keep with the timing as the bassist was going faster then we practiced (his first time on stage as well), so I cut out a few bars and we nailed the ending.  After all was said and done, more people commented on how they loved the look and sound of my Warmoth VIP.  What a relief to get the first one out of the way. Cant wait to practice some more and do it again.

Good to hear that all went well :occasion14:

The first one is always when you realize that you're made for the stage :icon_thumright:

I had my first live show last year and I'm usually very at ease in front of people but I was just scared of playing bad notes etc... but once you're on stage you just feel at home, and then after the show you realize people actually like how you play and then there's no stopping you :party07:

The first one's always rough, it get's easier  :icon_thumright:

I'm downright scared to death of being in front of large groups of people, but playing guitar in front of them doesn't bother me...odd

Yeah, its funny how I wouldnt think twice about standing in the batters box against a pitcher throwing 90+mph, but getting in front of people to play for the first time scared the crap out of me.  It did get easier as I got lost in the music.  I dont think I'll have much of a problem the next time.

So true.  The first show i ever played as a frontman (which made it more important to me since i was playing guitar, singing, and i was the primary songwriter in the band) was when i was 18.  I got electrocuted on stage.  It was supposed to be a 45 minute set, but it ended when i got zapped after 2 songs (around 8 minutes).  It also fried the PA that our bass player had borrowed from his church.

I'm glad to hear you recovered after the rough start.  May it be the first of many, many live performances.  :rock-on:  :headbang1:

Hey, congrats! I just had my fourth or so live show (as an adult, I've done the guitar thing twice), on Thursday. We did a one-off set of Dylan covers (I was on acoustic, we had a seven piece band) The first one was the scariest by far for me.
