I... If I would need them I can see why it would be a good Idea but If not should I save my money or will they be a good enough deal for other uses in woodworking?

Oh yeah, Forstner bits are The Bomb! As Cagey wrote, if your father's a woodworker and he doesn't have the ones you need, a set would be a great "thank you" gift for his help and expertise. He'll love 'em.

Not sure if the "When is that thing gonna be done???" question was directed at my original post but If it was then not for a while. I'm on the ol' Warmoth wait and I've got at least half the wait left. I ordered on 7/28 so it's been a hair over 2 weeks. I their default quote was 5-6 weeks so I've got a while to go. Kinda a shame since I was Initially hoping to get this done before school started. Eh well. One more question.

QUESTION: Does Warmoth send you any kind of updates on the status of your purchas?. Such as when the body is routed or neck is finished. It's been two weeks and I have received only the thank you for your order message which I received upon the initial purchase. Should I be expecting any kind of update or will it be silent until the order is shipped? It is rude to call and ask for a personal quote?

Thank You

Plan on radio silence until you get the alert that it's shipped.  Don't bother seeking an update until the original estimated time to completion has elapsed, since they're busy BUILDING guitars, and every attempt to get a status update means they have to stop someone on the line from forward progress.  Often the estimate is a little generous, and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Okey Dokey! I'll be patient. I understand that they are building it. I was just curious if that was something that was done or not. I'd rather have it done well than done quick anyways.

Thank you.

If anybody is still viewing this post I have good news. My 1st warmoth build shipped out a couple days ago and is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday! Needless to say I am ecstatic!  I have a good idea on the body shape and I have a good idea for what I want the finish to be. But I'm not quite sure on the finish so I figured I'd run this by you guys.

The body shape will be similar to a les paul but with the upper right being shaped something like a bell and with the lower horn being lowered slightly and being much more miniature. Just a small point. This will lead into a more extreme cutaway. It may sound odd in description but the drawing is much more pleasing.

For my finish I have two ideas.
1: The top will be done with a white wash pearl finish to show the grain through and the sides, back, and headstock will be done in a solid pearl white finish. Similar to the pearl white on the modern Cadillac cars.

2: The top will be done in a solid white pearl finish. It will have a clean line finish and the sides and back will be done in a brown stain similar to the rosewood fretboard. The headstock will also be finished with a pearl white finish.

(The hardware is gold)

I prefer the clean line idea but i'm not sure if it would be too difficult to do. Is it?

Also do you guys prefer either one over the other?

Are they both terrible?

Waffles Anyone?

Thank You
