blue washed dye quilt maple, korina and ebony neck, german shaller locking with black mini key buttons. added my fender lace sensor pickups, gold, silver , red. replacing the silver with the new lace emerald which is supposed to have a texas special tone to it! plus $30 abalone q-parts ringo knobs.. blue abalone shell pickguard..
id  like to get a custon neck plate done asap,  who was doing them? danger?  how booked are you and whats the prevailing cost?

what does the community think, is this build worthy of a guitar of the month submission?
on a scale from 1 to 2 ? haha :icon_jokercolor:

Interesting pickguard choice. I think a guitar like that would look amazing with an anodized gold guard, but good for you for rocking your style.

All guitars are worthy of GOTM submission. There aren't really many qualifications for it, other than it use a Warmoth neck and/or body, and each month there's a finish qualification (owner vs. Warmoth finished).

DangerousR6 is our resident neck plate and truss rod cover customizer. He has a dedicated thread on them here.

this was my only pickguard, since its a showcase body, i thought this one blended well with abalone dots and knobs and chrome and blue swirls! :toothy12:
i dont get gold anodized. whaaa?
thanks cagey i found him and his 167 pages!
and, like picking any one awesome toy, i cant decide what custom plate thingy to create!  lol time for pencil and paper i guess!

I agree that would look much better than the existing 'guard.

I'm surprised at how inexpensive they are. Even an actual Fender part from these guys is only $38

I don't know why, but I expected them to cost a helluva lot more than that.

Are they not beveled? I wonder if I could just flip one over and use it on my guitar ... unless the anodized gold is only topside.  :sad1:

guess i just dont care for satin gold with chrome and blue :-\  its like wearing brown and green clothes :sad1:
a popular look in poland!

I've only ever seen one in real life, it wasn't bevelled, and it was 100 years ago on a highly customized Jazzmaster. That may be why I thought they were expensive - they weren't aftermarket parts back then. He had it made special. Anyway, I'd bet dollars to donut holes it's anodized on both sides - it would be difficult to do only one side. But, the backside may not be brushed or otherwise finished for display purposes.

$80 is pretty steep, in my book: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Jazzmaster-Gold-Anodized-PICKGUARD-Fender-/190527673409#ht_731wt_906

And then tack on shipping, just to add to the insult.

Yeah, might not be so hot with the pearloid knobs and the chrome tuners.  :icon_tongue:

I couldn't figure out why you looked up an $80 part when I already linked to the same thing for $38. Then, I realized it's not the same thing. Strat parts are more common and so cost less. But, yeah. $80 would be steep, and is about what I think he paid back in 1970 or so, which made it real expensive at the time. Hell, the whole guitar probably only cost $400 new back then.

I'll be honest - I love the top, hate that pickguard. A busy finish - like blue jean flame maple - needs a not-busy pickguard so the eye is drawn to the finish and not all over the place. I'd recommend a simple black or white guard for it if you want it to look "pretty" - unless you WANT the super-busy look.

Yeah, it's just a tad busy, for my tastes. I'd try parchment or white.

But, it's your guitar, and if you love it, keep it.

Aesthetic tastes are like belly-buttons; everyone's got one and they're all a little different!

Not that most people want to open themselves up to criticism, but you might have put an option in your poll that allowed us to express opinions that differ from only two very similar, positive assessments.

haaaa  no, a scale of one to 2 is all i coluld handle!  just making the post a bit more interactive.  its not so busy in person.  or maybe its different because i have 3 other strats, yellow, midnight wine, and plain daphne blue..  thanks for all the comments positive and other wise!  the washed is great but it has a thick clear poly coat over it, does not have that guitar -wood - nitro feel to it..
heres to up coming g.o.t.m. submissions!

thanks tk,
as for finishes, my first thoughts for a custom strat was to make it very old school classic, the first guitars i every saw was a natural pre cbs strat my friend had and a dude from when i was a kid mid '70's he had a dark wood grain finish strat like randy rhodes!  thats classic style...  mine isint, its just a version...
appreciate your comments!

to me, it's pretty over-the-top, but in a way that screams of psychedelica from the 60's and 70's. Is that Korina neck? I think the whole thing's beautiful and i'd totally rock it. never thought i'd like the blue tortoise on anything til now
