Finished at the same time?

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a custom neck, instead of just from the showcase, and I saw it said that for solid colors, bursts, or dyes on the peg face, they needed to be spraying the body and neck at the same time.  Is this if you just want the same type of finish, or if you want them to match exactly?  Because i just want a similar finish, but this kind of confused me.  Could someone please help?  Thanks.

So wait, that means you can't get a gloss black neck finish without ordering the body at the same time? Huh....i guess i can try to find a really nice ebony veneer...

I understand it to mean that they will do the finish on the neck separately, but in that case there is no guarantee that this finish will be exactly the same as that of the body, if that was done at an earlier time or will done be at a later time. You also can't send them a picture of the body or the body itself and ask for a finish to match. But you should be able to have your gloss black neck.

Of course if you want to be 100% certain of what is possible and what isn't, just ask a sales rep. They can give you all the details, prices, lead times etc.

I had a solid coloured body and a solid coloured peghead on a neck, done separately, and they are very very close in colour to each other (in Fiesta Red). But they were both the same wood (maple), and being solid coloured, the degree of transparency wasn't an issue.

I think the degree of transparency is a stumbling block. How can you match one with another piece of wood without seeing how much stain/dye is there and how much grain is showing through? Must be a pretty hard thing to do without the other piece there with you to compare.
