Hey there guys, new here,

my warmoth strat came today, and its an Alder Strat,

i wish to finish it with something, but im not entirly sure what, as ive never used any clear coats or things like that before.

I want to leave it as a natural colour and not paint it a differnt colour as the body has a lovely grain.

i was thinking of some oil or varnish something simular.

Would tung oil be the right thing to use?

Thanks for your time
Tom

You can use tung oil.  You can grain fill the body first (I suggest that...).  Then tung oil over that, and you're good to go.

Oil finishes over filled grain are amazingly soft and satiny feeling.  They have the "heirloom furniture" sort of look.  Smooth, soft toned, warm.  Not a bad way to go if that's the sort of thing you like... the "au naturale" wood look.

Thanks  :icon_thumright:

Im looking at tun oil online now, and have seen Liberon Pure Tung Oil, is this stuff good?

also, im not sure on what size to get, 250ml, 500ml or 1l

what would be enough for 1 guitar body? also, how many coats would i use?

Thanks
