finish control route?

I am just starting an electric guitar finishing project with an Alder strat body.  I want to finish it with the fruitwood Danish oil.  If I am going to line the rear control route with copper tape do I need to finish it with the oil as well? or just leave it bare and tape it up.  Will the tape even stick if its finished with Danish oil?

Oil the body, let it dry fully, and then apply the tape.  You'll be fine.

Agreeing with bagman and just saying it an other way,
no need to oil the cavity, just do the tape job after the finish job is completed.
