Has anyone seen or played one of these yet?

I've never seen anyone ever put a humbucker in the middle. Many times in the bridge and in the neck, but never the middle.....

I saw the pickguard on ebay and wondered what the guitar would look like. Not bad overall. I don't understand the ring for the humbucker. But I really hate fake wear marks.  :dontknow:

I think the HB ring comes from a confused luthier. This was the sixties--nobody had ever really put a humbucker on a Fender before, and the poor guy probably went with what he knew--he mounted the pickup as he normally would on a Gibson, cut a hole big enough in the pickguard, and put it together from there--it was simply doing what you knew, considering what they did and didn't know in the late sixties.

It looks a lot better putting humbuckers in a pickguard with rings than without them. That's a fact of life. Even back then.

The rest of that design ... not so much.

Not posted directly because of swaring...

I'm not familiar with "swaring". Where do they do that? <grin>

i disagree, as the pickguard IS the mounting ring, just supersized.  looks funny to me to see it doubled up like that, sorta like superhero underwear over the pants.

MC5 had a strong radical left-wing message, and those kinds of things were viewed as acts of desecration to the flag. Now when Toby Keith does it, it's patriotic. :dontknow:
