Fender RW/RP question

Just an idea of mixing Strat and Tele Texas Special pickups and keeping RW/RP hum cancelling effect. If i mix Fender Tele bridge pup with Fender Strat middle pup and Fender Strat neck pup will i still get hum cancelling in both 2 and 4 position on the switch? My concern is if Tele neck pickup is the same polarity and winding direction as Strat middle. If yes my idea shoud work. What do you think?

That mostly depends on the tele set you have. Most likely the bridge pickup of the tele is already RWRP just like the strat middle which means no hum-cancelling in # 4. To do a "Nashville" type tele set up you would need the neck and bridge to be wound the same then a middle would work.

I'm guessing you have a tele already? If so then do you get the hum-cancelling effect in the middle #2 switch position.

I do have an idea.. If you use the strat middle for the neck, and the strat neck for the middle, and the tele bridge it should work. Usually neck and middle are wound to the same values or fairly close. The fact that the neck is now RWRP will not affect the sound of that position.

Do you have all the pickups you need already?

Yes, i have all pickups and a Tele. What i need to do is to route another hole for middle pup but before that need to make sure hum cancelling would work. As i mentioned before the pickups are both Strat and Tele Fender Specials (a Tele set and a Strat set). They are RW/RP which i can hear (simply by not hearing the hum in combined positions). As for changing position of middle and neck might be a solution. They are not the same but similar. To make my concern simple question is: Is Tele Fender Texas Special bridge pickup the same wound/polarized as Fender Texas Special Strat middle pickup?

To be absolutely sure you will need to do a small test. If you have a small magnet of some type you can check the pickups. I would advise you not to use one of those rare earth magnets as there is a danger of demagnetizing your pickups. Or if you have  a compass that will work too, even a cheap toy one will work. You may also hold the middle pickup face to face with the bridge pickup. If they repel each other they are the same.

TroubledTreble, it's kinda telepathy  :icon_biggrin:, just before reading your advise i made a test by approaching the pickups and checking reactions. All stars in the sky say both Strat and Tele bridge pickups are the same polarity which meas my idea would work. Thank you for posting.
