Fender got their ovens ready to roast some necks...

And Fender is still doing those stupid squared off heels on everything but Deluxe models.
ALL models should have a countoured heel (except for vintage reissues). Get with the 21st century already!
But then I couldn't use my side adjust necks on them fools, my Broman Capote! I called the big W about this year's ago and it's a bad bad thing.

That side-adjust is a totally unnecessary gimmick. All my electric guitars have a top-adjust and it's never been difficult to make truss rod adjustments. Would much rather have a contoured heel.

I thought the side-adjust was for convenience's sake, and I suppose it is if you ever needed it. But, in my experience, "modern" construction necks are pretty much a "set it and forget it" part. Don't need a convenient adjustment.

I don't mind that it's there, but it does seem like a bit of extra hassle/cost in manufacturing that I suspect most people could easily live without.

Not defending Fender, but seriously, how often do neck pickup adjustments need to be made?
Adjust it and forget about it.

For some players who change strings a lot, change tunings a lot, or live in an area where the humidity and barometric pressure changes a lot due to weather..... More than you might think.

Just to echo that, I've had to make a couple of small adjustments to my Warmoth Modern Necks. Nothing major, just little tweeks here and there. It was very convenient to have the side adjust available, instead of having to remove the neck.

I do end up tweaking the neck on the 12-string a surprising amount.  The side adjust is very handy IMHO.

Yo, my boi Street Avenger was talking about neck pickup adjustment. He right - how often do yall actually adjustimucate your pickup height once you got it dialed in?

BTW the side adjust is stupid convenient, fender can take their contoured heal and stick it up their cilantro hole
