So I was at the music store the other day when this oddly finished Tele grabbed my site.  Since I'd never actually seen a Custom Shop Tele in person, I was pretty excited.  It wasn't until I looked at the price tag and saw "Custom Shop" written on it that I realized what it was...and then there was the price!  I can't remember the exact figure but I think it was $4500.

I've never seen a guitar like this before (probably why it was a Custom Shop model...) and while I've never been a huge fan of rosewood (going off of what I've seen on the necks of some of my guitars...), this one just really struck a chord, no pun intended.  It was a very deep, dark, almost chocolate color and the body and neck matched perfectly.  The pickguard was black and the fretboard inlays were a goldish/bronze color.  While it wasn't exactly a guitar I would buy for myself, I couldn't help but to think how gorgeous this instrument was.

Anyone else seen one?  The only difference between the one below and the one I saw was that I believe the one I saw was in a satin finish, but I can't recall for sure.

When I was at GC I had one of my best sales days ever when I had to special order a Santana II along with a 513. After lunch I had to bring in a Rosewood Tele for another guy. Needless to say when all those guitars came in I was definately in love with Rosewood. The raw neck were my favorite but that Tele just had this awesome grain that you could get lost in. The contrast of the maple stripes was so cool. It was beautiful.

Yep, that's a reissue of the 60's rosewood teles, I believe there was also a rosewood strat made at the same time.

It was supposed to be for Jimi. I don't know if it ever went down though.

I wanted to make one when I saw it (as I declared at the time on this forum)... I ended up with the "Black rose" instead.
