Fender 50's/60's Differences?

Did Fender do THAT much different regarding wiring and electronics during these time periods?

nothing at all :) at least; not on strats and tele's. they did change bodywood and fingerboad wood (ash-> alder, maple -> rosewood)

Reportedly they applied different "Mojo", although this is unsubstantiated.

In the 50's they had the "Buddy Holly" mojo additive. In the 60's they added the "Dick Dale" mojo, The 70's had the "David Gilmore", "Eric Clapton" mojo..... :guitarplayer2:

From 1954 - 1969 there were basically NO changes in wiring scheme, all models used 3 way rather than 5 way switches common today. Capacitor type - up till '62 paper caps, then round ceramics after that. Cloth insulated wire replaced by plastic in late'67/early '68. Pickups were "black bottom" type through 1964, switched at that point to "gray bottom" with gray cardboard/fiberboard bottom, the latter always initialed/dated.

That's all.
