im having some fun with the un-official... lets see what the community style is made up of?
of course we are choosing greatness vs. greatness, thats a given but who RULES!??

these are all in my catalog but id lean toward lifeson / page!
joe~

The Who would be a fine choice. Pete Towshend and  Kurt Cobain. Certainly not the best, but both represent a style simular to each other as do the others on the list. Howwa bout Zappa and Garcia?

aaaarg  no c.c.  i tried to limit to the gods with staying power, ya know?  ive reluctantly added townsend and zappa... :sad1: :-\

None of my peeps are here.
I mean how can you have a greatest and Duane Allman, Jeff Beck, etc doesn't make the list?

c'mon tburst...none.... of your favs?  yes to duane but no to dicky betts hun?
and clapton, page bb king?  nothing?

I appreciate the urge to get to know folks better here, but this kind of  polling is generally a dead end.  Its tendency is to divide, give rise to argument, rather than to unite us and identify territory where we are in agreement.  See as evidence the fact that folks have already responded with questions about where their own favorites are.

Good luck, though.

betts doesn;t do much for me
I mean there are so many others:
Freddie KIng, Michael Bloomfield, Peter Green, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher. There are tons of others.
And this is just staying in the Rock, Blues Rock genre.
What about Howard Roberts, George Van Eps, Les Paul, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, etc?

Who is the greatest?
Whoever it is I am listening to at the time that inspires me to be a better guitarist.
One exception to that. Jeff Beck. When I listen to Beck and dissect what he is doing, I just want to give up.

Hendrix, Vai, Satch.

And if anyone doesn't like that, go listen to your favorite guitarist until you stop caring. :blob7:

Wow that's a blues nonsense biased list if I ever saw one. Steve Howe? David Gilmour? Adrian Belew? Robert Fripp?

Somehow, this makes me feel like a 13 year old girl.

"Isn't Satriani just the best?"
"No way!"
"Way!"
"Well, he is? But I rilly rilly like Jeff Beck? He's like... so rad?"
