Exotic Necks ON SALE....RIGHT NOW!

I'm already working 2 builds, but you've got me on the fence for one of those wenge necks for a third! Someone please buy it out from under me: https://warmoth.com/tn-17097-teler-replacement-neck

Question, maybe for @aarontunes or @JacobJames ... Is there a rhyme or reason on wenge for getting that wild cathedral grain on a pegface like the sample used in the builder? I noticed that most of the straight headstocks don't have it (it only tends to appear on the edge of the neck shaft), but the tiltbacks sometimes do. I know it has to do with how the board is cut. Is Warmoth cutting tiltback headstocks at an angle to the board or cutting the scarf at an angle to the board. Sorry for this bozo description! Asking for one of my builds.

Ignore the "sample used in the builder". It doesn't correspond to anything....especially not how a particular piece of wood was cut. It's just a stock photo of some rando piece of Wenge that was big enough to cover the entire field (aka probably a photo of a lam top), placed under a mask with a cutout that is the perimeter shape of whatever neck you happen to be building.

That's what I'd thought from viewing the source image, appreciate the confirmation of this! My current plan is to buy some veneer with that cathedral grain to do my own pegface lam.

My first Warmoth build had a canary neck (profile pic). I wish I hadn't sold that guitar :(

I don't remember the results of @aarontunes exotic neck comparison off the top of my head, but I now have an all rosewood neck and I'd swear that they feel nearly identical. If I was blindfolded, I don't think I could tell.

Then again, it's been a couple of years since I played the canary so I could be wrong.

All either Fender headstock shapes or if they don't have Fender shapes, just plain dots for inlays. I love the woods, but the styles aren't in my personal aesthetic (see: meedly meedly whooowhaaackatacka supa-metal pointy topics and replies I've posted over the years ;) ) So kinda' saved me from myself here. :D

I was excited to see this sale today. I was interested in several but ordered one of the Canary strat necks with an ebony fretboard. Easily half the price of what I was contemplating as a custom order and the ebony board was the most important factor to me right now. Woo hoo!
My ebony-on-canary Tele neck remains my favorite after 13 years. So nice. Congrats on your new love.
