Question, maybe for @aarontunes or @JacobJames ... Is there a rhyme or reason on wenge for getting that wild cathedral grain on a pegface like the sample used in the builder?
That's what I'd thought from viewing the source image, appreciate the confirmation of this! My current plan is to buy some veneer with that cathedral grain to do my own pegface lam.Ignore the "sample used in the builder". It doesn't correspond to anything....especially not how a particular piece of wood was cut. It's just a stock photo of some rando piece of Wenge that was big enough to cover the entire field (aka probably a photo of a lam top), placed under a mask with a cutout that is the perimeter shape of whatever neck you happen to be building.
My ebony-on-canary Tele neck remains my favorite after 13 years. So nice. Congrats on your new love.I was excited to see this sale today. I was interested in several but ordered one of the Canary strat necks with an ebony fretboard. Easily half the price of what I was contemplating as a custom order and the ebony board was the most important factor to me right now. Woo hoo!
