Hello Warmoth Forum members I would really appreciate if any members Know if Warmoth can build a neck based on Eric Johnson 54 Virginia Strat neck profile which Fender describe it as a soft V profile, I actually own an EJ start which now is about 10 years old my goal being to replicate with the benefit of customizing the neck with a rosewood board and a 1/4 sawn roasted maple shaft wood ,

Members, please note any advice in terms of neck profiles Warmoth use for their builds with people larger hands / longer fingers would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

The EJ neck is the 57 soft V shape which in turn is similar to the Fender Eric Clapton necks. The most similar neck shape from Warmoth will be the "Clapton" neck profile.

I have one Clapton profile Warmoth neck. It is not what I would call a "soft" V and is more pronounced when compared with a Fender Clapton Signature guitar neck. I have an old Ovation that has a soft V thin profile and that neck is more comfortable for barre chords. That said, the Clapton profile neck is very nice anyway, particularly for lead guitar. However after playing the Warmoth standard thin profile on my other guitars I prefer the standard thin. If you look at the x-section views on Warmoth's site the Clapton profile is almost identical to the standard thin with the exception of the V. It should not be difficult to carefully sand down the V a bit, using calipers as a guide, to make it "softer."

Can you find a set of calipers to measure the depth of the neck at 1st fret and 12th fret? That is the first step to soucing a replacement.
