I'm looking for a good quality EQ pedal for my guitar rig. Can anyone suggest such a pedal? I hate saying this, but price (almost) doesn't matter if it sounds good.
Look up Paul Gilbert's Detox EQ. don't know what it costs but I've heard good things..doesnt have 12 bands but what it does have is very effective at moulding the tone...supposedly
I hear good things about BYOC's eq pedal if you're willing to put some work into it. its 10 bands with an input and output slider. I just use a boss and it works fine.
I'd consider a Yamaha SPX-900 rack mount unit. ( eBay )
Every patch in it has a parametric EQ section to it and the stereo pitch doubler is the ultimate chorus patch.
It also has just a raw EQ patch that can be modified and stored in other patches.
The doubler can be programmed to a great degree and of course every patch is savable.
It also has great reverb and delays and 66 user programmable patch / storage locations and also every patch can have the volume set
( and saved to that patch ) differently so it can be used to gain stage your rig.
I used an SPX-900 live for 10 yrs. with a midi foot controller that send midi patch changes and it was unbeatable in everything it did.
Plus, it's studio ready.
It can also dump it's patch load via .syx to your DAW software so you can have quite a few patch loads to work with.
I've got 2 of them rack mounted here in the studio and I'll keep them forever.
I already picked up a BOSS EQ 20. It has 10 bands of digital EQ & it's programmable for 9 settings. They stopped making them but found one brand new on ebay.
