I've got an old Zion strat w/ 3 singles (EMG SA's). I'd like to set it up so that the SPC knob is on the bridge pickup only, and only in the #1 position. IOW I want #2 position to not have it. I've seen some pretty complicated switching setups before, but I'm having trouble getting my head around this one. Maybe a 4 pole 5 way switch, route the SPC in from pole 1, out to pole 2, then use the other two poles to do the 5-way mixing. I see that EMG has a fancy switch, but the docs didn't give me a clear idea if this was possible, and I think it probably is with the 4 pole SuperSwitch.

Anyone do something similar, have information about the EMG 5-way, or have suggestions?

Got email from Rick @ EMG. Apparently it can be done, but I didn't follow how.

I did figure out a wiring scheme for the StewMac 4 pole super switch though, which would allow me to use the SPC on both #1 and #5 positions. Cool beans.

Got it today, Nope, despite assurance to the contrary, the EMG B161 can't do this. Bummer.

hmmm i wonder if shunting the input to the output of that control would draw power or alter the output in any way. it would be posible to do that in 4 of 5 positions (or the middle 3) with a standard strat switch and maybe with that fancy emg switch. i dont know enough about the emg circuits to even guess so im not recomending it. well anyhow sound like a cool project. im guessing you want it on the bridge and neck but never the middle so you can get quick switching from a strat 2/4 sound to a fat solo sound. good luck with it.

this is how a good wiring plan should work, you find one goal and do what you have to to get that, not like some guys that try to get 35 combinations out of 3 passive pickup coils, how many of those can really sound good?
