Putting batteries in humans ruins the tone. And they nearly always do this to nice vintage humans.

IT often prolongs their shelf life, however.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd note that I installed a battery holder into the control cover for my EMG-SA's.  I think it worked out really well and there was plenty of room.  Note that the box does not come with any screws and I ended up just super gluing it into the control cover.
