EMG DG20 System

Does anyone have the EMG DG20 system installed in their Strat?  I just stumbled over this unit & it looks very compelling.  Claims to be "the same" system Gilmour plays on tour, but I have my doubts.  The eq abilities make sense, going active has it's advantages, and the versatility is definitely a plus.  On-line reviews from retail sites rave over it, but that's expected.  Any opinions welcome.

Thanks.

It is the same as Gilmour use in his Candy Apple strat he use on the Delicate & Pulse tour. I have just tried it a little bit, but I like the vintage strat sound better so it`s not for me..

Since you're happy with it I have to ask......

How did you get here?  Did you know you wanted this system when you built your strat?  Or did you replace the stock pickups in a Fender MIA/MIJ/MIM/MIx/Custom Shop?  Or did you go through a variety of pickups before arriving at the DG20 system?

Thanks for the help.

If it really is the same system as Gilmour's "signature sound" that would be pretty cool, but I still have my doubts.

I knew I wanted it when I built my strat.  But if you're looking for Gilmour's "signature sound" you should probably read up on his black strat.  That was his workhorse from "Meddle" through to "Animals" I believe...  I'm not much of a tone junkie.  I basically bought it because I didn't have to solder much, and because EMG's are used by the vast majority of the artists I listen to.  I find that they are very clean and quiet.  I can get some nice "stratty" sounds out of them, but I also find that they respond well to effects, and I can get some very thick sounds out of it too.

Agreed ^. He used the active system because of their light show. Lots of big lights + single coils + high volume = LOTS of noise. I still think it sounds absolutely incredible. That tone is to die for, but obviously there are other factors involved. I've always wanted to build a strat around the DG-20, but I can't afford it at the moment.
