Hello, I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Standard 50's and tore out the wiring and pickups and put in new Tonerider Alnico 2's and everything else thinking this will be great! šŸ„“ So I recently found out that the Probucker pickups might should have been left in. As a newbie I assumed that the original electronics and pickups were substandard and everything needed replacement. That's how a newbie thinks. So all was good until recently I noticed that I can put the 3 way selector switch on either pickup and the corresponding volume pot works accordingly, but if I put it in the middle, I can turn all of the volume completely off with either volume pot. I thought that I could turn the bridge down and leave the neck up or visa versa. So when it's either in the neck or bridge position the corresponding volume control works perfectly but in the middle either one works to turn the whole thing off. I wonder what I did wrong on the wiring? Anybody run into that problem?

So I went by the wiring diagram and switched the wires on my Les Paul and now I have the volume control on each pot. Thanks Stratamania! I also changed strings and went to D'Addario XL nickel wound 9/42's. I normally use flat wound Thomstik Infield jazz strings, I kinda like a very warm sound and it seems a little trebley. It seemed like the more I played it the better it sounded and also did some adjusting on my amp and compression pedal. The guitar came with .022 caps and I left them like that, maybe I need the .047's in it. It's all good though and I appreciate the help! Stay tuned, I bought a Squire Strat on Amazon too get the body and ordered the neck from Warmoth which shipped yesterday, I got a 1 3/4 nut on this one and I'm gonna put the Seth Lover humbuckers in it.
