Dynasonic pickup routing

Sure, but the only issue is that rick pickups are super tall.  Like 1/2 inch above the guitar top or more.  That's a lot of neck shimming.

Yep, they are ~13mm. But routed properly there should be no need for shimming. In fact if routed slightly deep or routed like any other pickup it would allow for adjustment of the pickup with a bit of foam underneath, i.e. P90. In fact the route is just a tad larger than a P90. Such a shame that the two are not interchangeable.

Seems like I've read the same thing, that the Rickenbacker folks are quite the litigious bunch.

Can they really prevent someone from making a certain size hole in a hunk of wood shaped like a guitar?
I know I can make and sell a pickup that is the same size and as long as it isn't a copy I'm good to go.

I would be great to put this option on a Cabronita!

Damn the torpedoes I say!

Depends on the venue. Take the case to East Texas, and you're in like Flynn. I suspect they'd wait to see if you were making any money on the deal, though. No sense in suing church mice. Can't even cover your legal fees.

You're probably right - they could not stop you.

Hey - you make a pickup like a rick pickup?  Tell us more!

Heck no, not me. No legal issues here...  :laughing7:

Actually I have been working on a pickup that does utilize the same footprint. It will be out soon. That is all I can say at the moment. I want to release it all at once and be able to support it.  I am waiting on laser cut parts.

I can tell you that it is reminiscent of an old pickup that isn't made anymore. It's internals are from what I have learned over the years and it is unique to this pickup. So it's a little bit of the old a little bit of the new. The prototypes work very well.

I would be happy to post it here if you would like to see it when it comes out. If you Instagram you can see one component of it on my IG.

By the way Trevor. I think that flask is awesome and since the cooler weather has started to move in, I can taste a maple infused whiskey sitting at the soccer match kind of day coming on. A flask makes the perfect companion.

Alright, so here is the new pickup. The Duo-Mar!
Single coil, two magnetic fields which are offset. The field under the bass string extends more toward the neck and the field under the treble strings extends more toward the bridge. Based loosely on a pickup that was made some time ago. Can be body mounted or set within a pickguard.

The magnets stick through the top and are bright nickle plated.

Bagman, it is just a few mm larger than a P90. So it is pickup specific.

I put them in my pinecaster which was originally routed for P90s. I just had to take out a very minimal amount of wood. It is oh so close....

Also note that I changed the title to Dynasonic. I just don't need to stir up issues. It's much more like the Dynasonic anyway. "No Toast"!.

Has anyone figured out what pickups I based these on? Here is a hint: T.D.R.

Now that I have these covers in stock you can bet I will probably have a few more variations. So much fun!
