I think rosewood would probably be too hard and oily to take a stain well. You should definitely try it out on scrap rosewood first if you really want to go this route.

In addition to all of that, the dye would possibly accentuate the stripes not hide them, if the dark bits are more porous than light bits, like in other woods.
I've been playing since before most of you were born :binkybaby:, and I've never played a Maple fretboard I liked. They just don't feel right to me. Each to his own, I guess.

Back on point, though, the inlay material is supposed to be MOP. It's probably just plastic. (unless all mother-of-pearl is plastic....don't know about that one :icon_scratch
