Dyed/Tinted Maple Neck

Is it possible to apply dye or tint directly to a maple neck without it bowing all to pieces? I think I am picking up a cheap Tele body off the showcase for my next art guitar project, and was thinking it would be fun to do something different with the neck to try and make it match the body without just painting the whole neck.

I have done it on 5+ builds...no issues.

this one is a maple neck stained to matched a stained white korina body.  I had to use a higher concentrate stain on the neck to achieve a similar color...
