I thought I would share my experience with Dunlop strings. I month or so ago I purchased a few sets of strings by various makers, it's a cheep way to get different tones. Anyways, I bought some GHS Boomers, EXP's and Dunlop Heavy Core strings for drop tuning. All strings were 10-52's and since I play 99% of the time in drop tuning I was anxious to try the Dunlops. So I remove the old strings and install the new strings and winding them so they are loose. I stretch the strings (I don't go crazy just a couple light passes) I get to the high E string and as I grab the string I barely have enough pressure to depress the skin and snap. Needless to say I was a little pissed, I've changed hundreds of strings and this was the first time this has happened. It was kinda eating eating at me so I decided to send them an email explaining the situation and how I was looking forward to trying the strings. It was a nice email and just told them that I wasn't sure if I'd buy them again but wanted to let them know of the situation. A few days later I was contacted and after a few emails back and forth they sent me 6 packs of the Heavy Core strings and 6 packs of standard nickel 10-52's. Needless to say I wasn't expecting that and thanked them quite a few times.
I finally installed a set of the heavy core strings last night and honestly, I really like them.....which is good cause I got enough strings to last quite a while. I've never tried their nickel strings so those will have to wait a while.
