Dragon Burst LP Custom

Finally finished putting this one together. Nothing too non standard.

Body: Mahogany with a flame Maple Dragon Burst Cap
Neck: Mahogany59 Roundback contour with a Macassar Ebony Fingerboard and Graphtech TUSQ Nut
Binding: Ivoroid
Electronics: Standard LP Wiring Kit
Pickups: Seymour Duncan Phat Cat P-90's
Tuners: Gotoh Vintage Locking
Hardware: Gotoh Brigde and Stoptail

All of the cream parts were aged by me. Took this into work yesterday to have a lunchtime jam session with one of my work mates. My friend Brian, has an American Standard Strat that his wife purchased for him right after they got married, and he's never really been a big Les Paul fan. I think he kind of fell in love with my guitar, as I had a lot of trouble getting it back off him.     :laughing7:

Yeah, they are awesome. One their own they do hum a bit, but thats just P90's. I did shield the control cavities, which helped a bit. Together they become one humbucker, as the bridge is RW/RP. Throw some gain at them and they are fat sounding.    arty07:

Awwwwww yeah. Do you ever find them to be muddy at all? To be honest, I LOVE it the bridge position of my LPS, but I'm not totally sold on the neck sound.

Not sure about muddy. They are a bit "chime-ish" sounding to me.  :laughing7:

In my case, the neck sound is just a bit too smooth-sounding. Not enough "snarl" or "bite" or what have you. I wonder if the lack of maple laminate on my guitar would have any bearing on that? But there's the million-dollar "does body wood affect tone?" question again.

Can't say my P-90's have what you are describing, and yeah the body wood affecting tone debate, I think makes a bit of a difference. Please don't quote me on that, as I may get shot down in a ball of flames.

It is an interesting question though. Maybe some day I'll swap out the neck PU and see what happens.

Anyway, enough derailing. Yer LP is real purdy like.  :icon_biggrin:
