From what I have read roasted maple necks seem like a really good idea, a really nice neck for a decent price and no need for any finish on it.
But can you get a quarter-sawn roasted maple neck?

You can, but there don't appear to be any in stock right now.  I have seen them come through my RSS feed.

I have 2. One was a custom order. It isn't or at least wasn't an option but said I wanted it in the comment section and they upcharged me and give me a beautiful neck!

I too requested quarter sawn in the Notes box when I placed the custom order for my roasted maple neck. A small up-charge later and similar to Surf, I got a sweet neck too!

I didn't find any such Notes box/comment section when I ordered my stuff. I thought of sending them an email after my order went through inquiring about some details, but didn't.
But for future reference it might be good to know if there actually is such an option and that I just missed it this time around.
I used the online order tool.

If I remember correctly the Notes box is on the Payment page.

You essentially select as many relevant options in the configuration, then proceed with an order - when you get to the payment page, add a note like '*** QUARTERSAWN ROASTED MAPLE ***' so it's noticed [not that it won't be - Warmoth folk are scrupulous, in my experience!] and they will email you with any queries / up charges to sign off on, before committing the order to process.

Hope that helps?

Aha, I see.
The thing is I used their new PayPal-payment option. It might be that the option of adding an extra line isn't available there.
Or I might just have missed it, is all ...

No worries ...

But thanks for the info  :icon_thumright:

These RSS feeds are addictive. My wallet strains daily...

I had to actually turn the RSS feeds off.  It was getting to the point that I was scheming on how to buy another body or neck and that just wasn't healthy.

Same here. I was buying necks I didn't need just to get them off the market before somebody beat me to them. Some of those things are just way too unique/pretty.

I was told $65.  I was also told just to put a note that I wanted Quarter Sawn Roasted Maple and a statement authorizing them to charge my card for the $65 extra.

You could call and ask. I know blanks like that exist because these guys sell them. They'll call it curly (the proper term) rather than flame, and they use the words "torrified" (the proper term) and "roasted" interchangeably, but they'll do it quartersawn.

How about quartersawn roasted flame maple, is that possible ?

Isn't the grain at 90º or something so flame maple would look wavey or something?

I have no idea.

What you're seeing in figured woods is actually end grain exposed along the long sides, but it's not at 90° to the surface. The wood sorta grows in waves rather than straight, so when you cut it, you're slicing through those waves, alternately exposing the exit and entrance of the grain at the slice plane.
