Do strings have to be dead centered on fingerboard ?

I've got one Strat bolt on, where the low e has a smidgeon more fretboard on one side than the low E.

I would loosen the screws and try and shift it, but I hate going through the trouble ( and possibly stripping a screwhole  or something ) to do that, and it really doesn't bother meas far as playing it.

If it doesn't bug you, then don't change it.  :dontknow:

Having said that, it's common practice to loosen the neck screws and shift the neck a bit to align the strings.  Don't do this with the stings up to tension.

It's also often preferable to have a bit more fretboard under the high e, so as to avoid going off the fretboard edge when doing vibrato. Since most players don't play that much high up on the neck on the low E, it isn't that crucial that that string is a bit closer to the fretboard edge.
