That's cool from a technical standpoint, but for all practical reasons, a digital reverb would be the best bet. I'd rather invest in a good reverb unit or audio plugins than build a plate for a small studio or my home.
 
That's me. Give me the digital stuff any day. It's much more accurate and realistic. The ancient ways using springs or plates or whatever geegaws they could get to work were fine at the time because they often had little or no choice, but that's no reason to suffer with that sort of thing today. With modern reverbs if you want to sound like you're in a hall or a church or a theater, you can sound like you're in a hall or a church or a theater,
 
For recording purposes it goes both ways.  Digital does odd things, especially with multiple tracks.  Analog also can fix a lot of the digital problems.  And digital just doesn't capture the chaos of a spring reverb unit on a guitar amp.  Plate reverb units can come close to the spring ones, but...
