Dimarzio Satchur8 Review

I've always preferred the detail retention of lower wound pickups, and it wasn't until I got my ADA-MP1 back in 1989 that I ditched all stomp disto's.

Nowadays, you can push the amp a bit without over compressing it by opting for underwound active pickups like the EMG 57/66 set.  You get the detail, you get the front end amp kick, but you retain all the headroom.

Gone are the days where a Dimarzio X2N was necessary to get the gain desired from an older Marshall amp.

Closing this out.

The Gravity Storms are SUBLIME in this guitar - no "wah" artifacts as were present in the Ibby S540LTD (still rocked hard).  This is an incredibly rich, organic, and dynamic humbucker that splits like a boss, screams in the smoothest way for leads, and can crush the heaviness while doing spectacular low-mid gain tones.  It's literally the everything bucker I've dreamed of without any perceivable compromises.

Steve Vai describes it as, "...a thundering cloud of ice cream...", and I finally understand what he meant. It's been a never ending love affair since I first tried it.  Dimarzio really did a good job on this pickup.
