ive got a Gibson SG Classic that I love the feel of but the P-90s that are in it are pretty bad, imo. I had thought about finding a higher quality p-90 but would really like more of a humbucker output and ran into the DLX Plus series. These are essentially mini-humbuckers in a soap bar config, correct? their specs say it sounds like a  'steves special' but i havent heard these, either. from what I gather they steves special has almost a scooped sound, which im not a fan of- i love me some creamy mids- but thought if it had a tighter mini-humbucker sound it might still be good.

my main amp rig is a jmp-1 -> mesa 295.

anyone here have any experience on these pups?

Haven't tried those DiMarzios, but another suggestion you might look at is the Rio Grande BabyBuckers; they're a hot humbucker that will fit any soapbar or Gibon "Mini-humbucker" route:

They're out of stock at Warmoth, but you can order direct from Rio Grande; only issue is that they come in cream, black or zebra exposed coil only, i.e., no chrome or gold covers.

SD antiquity makes exactly the same thing, probably a different vibe than the RGs, for another option. http://www.acmeguitarworks.com/Seymour_Duncan_Antiquity_II_Ad_P814C126.cfm

The SD Antiquity set would be suitable for a more "vintage" type sound; RG BabyBakers are in-your-face hot
