Deciding which configuration

I run the same combination in my LP.

For my OFR-equipped guitars, the SH-2 sounded much too thin, so I replaced it with a Dimarzio Air Norton, but in the LP, the SH-2 sounds sweet.

The JB is the hottest I'd ever go in a bridge pickup. It's one of my two top favorite pickups. I also love the SH-12, but the JB has more overtones and a "fatter" sound. Slightly more drive too.

"Fat" is what I really like  :icon_thumright:

Putted the whole thing together today (the Warmoth neck's simply sweet) and there's some weirdness:

1- the volume pot acts like a tone pot (the tone pot works fine)
2- there's some static noise that goes away when I touch the bridge or the tremolo arm (gotta say that I forgot to put some copper or shielding foil under the pickguard)

Here's the schematics I followed:

Thanks for the help.

1. Volume tab isn't properly grounded
2. Probably is due to 1. It's a grounding issue somewhere. (not foil/shielding related)
If neither of those, you probably soldered the sleeve & tip backwards. (doesn't sound like this is it, but it's a common mistake)

For "volume tab" you mean lug 3? (my ignorance). Thanks.

Aye. The one without a wire going to it.  That one is the one I suspect isn't grounded properly.

The terminals aren't numbered, but "3" might make sense. It's the one that doesn't seem to have a wire going to it. In the picture, it looks like that lug is folded back and soldered to the pot housing. Note: the pot housing has to be grounded for that connection to make sense.

While you're at it, make sure your bridge or something in constant contact with the strings it is also grounded.

Fixed! The ground wire from "lug 3" was broken. Yep, in the drawing the lug's folded onto the pot chassis but, as the pot I used is made, I was afraid to brake the lug so I used a solid wire to ground it. Now it works fine, love the SH-2, maybe just a bit of static noise that goes away when I turn volume to zero or touch the bridge/tremolo arm. Since we're here I was up to ask: did someone of you tried the treble-bleed mod on this configuration and I was thinking to install a killswitch, is it ok to use a single pole (3 lugs) switch? Thanks for the help guys!
