Dave plays fender, you are thinking of Adrian Smith!

i was talking about the price tag part. he has a fender custom shop thing that blows harder than a club to a seal. and its $2300.

I have tried to find information about it, but havent found it out - what kind of pickup does he use in the middle, and how are the pickups wired? Anyone?

he uses a fender pickup in the middle, im pretty sure its some texas special. dp101 in the bridge 103 in the neck. its all standard wiring. he is a very minimalist guitarist, and thats why i admire him.

The black guitar smavridis posted has -
DiMarzio® PAF® 36th Anniversary DP103 neck pickup, a DiMarzio® Super Distortion® DP100 bridge pickup and a Fender vintage-style middle pickup

Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Murray_(musician) says -
Seymour Duncan Hot Rails single coil sized humbucking pickups with dual blade coils in the white one, but then wikipedia can smetimes say black is white.

Dave Murray's...

What finish is the one closest to dave's?
I thought it was the Vintage White, but after seeing the cream finish, I'm not sure anymore. Could someone help me out? Does anyone have either an cream or a vintage white body from warmoth?

to my eyes, it's the cream.  However, I have not had a vintage white or a cream body side by side, so i'm just going by the photos - which always leads to tears.

Don't let the pics ("stock photos" you posted) fool ya - go with Vintage White.

Double-check Warmoth's site and look again at the Solid Color section and
you'll see Vintage White is correct.

Cream has too much "red" in it and therefore gives it a light tan-ish color (it's somewhat orange).

As well, Dave's strat color in that pic looks just like Yngwie's sig guitar; which is undoubtedly (Fender) Vintage White.

(I've always called those Vintage White strats "Banana Cream Pie" strats)
