I'm curious where I can get a custom headstock logo. I've come across one I really want to put on Vincent. also, how do I apply a logo to a raw neck? would it be better if I had a stencil made and just painted the logo on the headstock?

Logos on raw woods look really bad to me.

If you want a logo, have someone engrave it into the wood.

hmm.....who would I have do that? any idea what kind of local shops I should find around here? that's actually be pretty neat to do.

definitely agree. when i first got my purpleheart neck i had big plans with having an inlay done on the headstock to match the neckplate (thanks doug!) but opted against it for money reasons. a logo on bare wood just looks very awkward, and i would be afraid to even just look at the headstock funny in case it was torn off or damaged.

i was looking into this guy (http://www.sharkinlay.com/) for the work. he was pretty helpful and returned emails. i realized it was all over my head price-wise, so i didn't do much shopping around with other people. he's on the forum here, too. don't remember his username, but somebody might (might even be sharkinlay :icon_biggrin: )

You might could try any local trophy shops. They maybe able to laser cut a logo into the headstock...I believe jackthehack had some custome logo's engraved as such...

i forgot to add... just like my purpleheart neck, you might find that it's just not the neck for you after the honeymoon time period is over. so don't do it TOO quickly. well, at least if you can be as indecisive as i am. i'm glad i didn't do anything too quickly since now that neck is for sale. anyway, that might not apply to you, but i just thought it's kind of relevant :)

I've been interested in this kind of thing for a long time.

I was discussing it with my luthier for when he gets his CNC machine.

^that's more what I was getting at. I may go with that to see what's up with pricing around town, and all that. I really liked the look of that engraved logo that line6man posted up. Warmoth "------ Deluxe"? ^_^

The gentleman you are speaking of is Cliff at sharkinlay.com.  His Warmoth forum name is cSuttle.
He is a really nice guy and does some fantastic work.  I came very close to using him for my Valentina neck.
I ran into the same challenge as you, it was just too much to spend on my first build.
I would certainly consider him in the future; I really like his work...
Good luck &  :rock-on:

Cliff did a fretboard inlay for me and it looks great. It was some money, but I can't say if he is expensive because I really haven't looked around much. But, the work was great, from planning to completion. I just recently ordered a t-rod cover and can't wait to get it.
