Custom Color for smjenkins

+1. They probably don't (and shouldn't) make JM hardware in anything but chrome.

Nah, white guard would look 200% better

White would look good if it had a rosewood or ebony fretboard.

That's shoreline right?  Looks good with the white pg and rosewood fingerboard.  The color I'm going for isn't metallic, is a bit less orange, and a bit more mustard than that.  In any case, I'm hoping that with a maple neck, a black pickguard would look good.

I had my good friends at Dunn-Edwards Paints match our color in Valspar. I have never used this particular product but due to the depth of the color they had to mix it in the Neutral Basecoat, which is a dead flat.  The product had very good hiding characteristic and only required one coat (see second picture) but as you can see it is a dead flat. It was designed to have a clear put over it so in the third picture you see it with the first coat of gloss clear.  The clear gives the true color we are looking for. They did a very nice job matching the color chip that Mike provided.

PS I have enough paint for about 30 more guitars.  :icon_scratch:

I guess about 20 of them can be teles, with a mint pickguard, nickel hardware, maple-rosewood necks...

C'mon Max. Tele guys have a bigger imagination than that. About 5 of them would go the blackguard route. But it would be 50-50 on who would use Gotoh tuners and who would use Klusons :party07:

Wow Tonar, that is looking great.  The flat is, well, really flat.  But with the clear coat, it just pops.  I may have to breakdown and start pickguard wiring this weekend.
