Crazy cutting out/popping with three way toggle, one volume, 2 HB

This is sorta driving me nuts.  I recently swapped out some pickups in three guitars, all of them 2 HB and a three way toggle; each guitar has different volume/tone setups (one LP, one vol/vol/tone and one just volume).  In the guitar with 2 HB and a three way switch, it will sometimes crackle like crazy when i switch pickups, and sometimes the bridge pickup will not work at all.  I've been through it, and I can't get the pickup to cut out wired directly to the volume.  I've cleaned the switch and looked for stuff inside it.  The wiring is clean.  It just does it at random times, and I'm wondering if there isn't some kind of static buildup?

Any ideas?

I had that with a Fender Aerodyne Tele I owned - swapped out the switch and all was well.

I had a toggle that was intermittently shorting to ground in one position via a vintage-style braided ground PU wire.

that just sounds like a bad switch. Not to doubt your soldering skills, but in my early years of soldering I damaged more than one pot and switch by overheating because i didn't know what i was doing and applied a lot of heat for too long of a time to the components.

I have the same issue with one of my builds.  I used a toggle switch with both builds and on 1 the bridge PU will sound fine, then sounds like the volume is being rolled down then just shut off.  Then magically be fine.  I've also noticed with these toggle switches, that if you have just one of the PU selected, I can also tap the other PU with something and hear it.  I don't think these toggle switches are breaking far enough away from the contacts to completed break signal to the other PU.  (both of mine are the brand Warmoth sells) Maybe all are like that I don't know.

But back on topic, I think my switches are both bad also.
