Has anyone used this material? I'm confused about the description white/black/white. I'd like to use it to replace the plain black rear cover on my walnut LPS. Is the thickness correct; .090"? I was thinking it would make a cool truss cover for my wenge LPS neck. Not sure about the contrast though... Any thoughts?

my only guess for the white/black/white would be that in reality it would be brown shell with a black pin stripe back to brown shell. and i think it would be easier to use a .06" piece of material, but it should be too much of a problem.

anyway, that would look really cool

I would think a white/black/white cover would be three plys, white on each side with a black layer in the middle.  So if you cut it at 90 degrees to the surface you'll get a barely noticable pinstripe in the center of it, but if you cut it at a 45 degree bevel you'll see a black stripe around the outside of it. Just like 90% of the Strats you see with a solid white pick guard. It will look white on the top and bottom in any case, it's just around the edge you'd see the black, and even then only if you cut it with a beveled edge.

Or maybe I didn't understand the question...

The description is confusing. But, it's brown shell over a white/black/white base. The edge view looks like this...

It doesn't show up on a black background very well, but you can see how they describe it here. Just select the brown shell from the palette of colors.

You know someone on the forum (me) makes wood covers like what you are referring to.  I think that would look way better than plastic honestly.  Everybody has plastic, but only a few of us run wood covers!!

These are totally flush with the body, super smooth.  I took the time and a micrometer to make sure the mounting flange is as thick thick as the stock plastic cover.

After reading your entire original post I can totally do you better than a plastic tortise or whatever you were looking at.  I can do you a walnut back cover!!!!  No problem!!  I can do a truss rod cover for you too!!  I have walnut here!!  I also need the work!!  PM me and we can go from there!!  All I need is your original cover to use as a template and I will send it back with your wood covers.
