They certainly exist, but their usage tends to be rather specialized. You will often find them on analog oscilloscopes, for example. A problem is that they are often rather deep, and would not fit in a control cavity on a guitar.
1P2T, On-Off-On. It's for the MIDI-MIX-Guitar switch for my Hexpander. I had the idea to put it on the ring for the MIDI volume knob. I should probably just do:
Guitar Volume on 250k audio
S1/S2 on a Mom-Off-Mom toggle
MIX on a On-Off-On toggle
MIDI Volume on a 250k linear
It might as you say be more usable as a dedicated switch. It's a lot of years since I was using an early guitar synth in a band live, but from what I can recall having a switch on a concentric pot would have been a bit fiddly.
