Hello!

I discovered warmoth about two days ago when searching for a new guitar to buy and got immediately hooked! So I decided even tho I know nothing about this that I need to get one for myself! Knowing nothing, I have a few questions to ask you guys! I tried searching but I kinda want answers to my questions because I don't want this to go wrong :S

So here they are :

First of all, is the recessed schaller rout necessary to be able to use the floyd to it's full extent?

I'm would like to get a star or explorer with a schaller floyd and warmoth pro angled neck, can I get the 720 mod aswell or is that not possible?

What would a countoured heel be like on a star or an explorer?

And if you're still not bored could you answer this =D :

I'm thinking of getting :

Star mahogany body
Schaller Floyd
ebony fretboard with wenge neck (or mahogany)
Dimebucker bridge pickup and an SH-2 Jazz neck pickup

Is this kind of a good idea? (I play mainly thrashing 80's metal, rock and occasionally blues and funk... but mostly thrashing 80's metal!)

I thank very deeply the ones who had the courage to read all this!

recess = don't know, I hate tremolos
720 mod = no, not with an angled neck.
contoured heel = fine. If you are a shredder it's necessary, I imagine.
Wenge = win. You won't regret it. If you get a star body be very careful of neck heaviness -> get a heavy body and light tuners.

good luck and post pics!

Hey man! that sounds like a pretty solid plan you got!!!

   recessing the Floyd will allow you to pull up and raise the pitch of notes a lot more than a standard rout. so it will open up some more possibilities!

   you should be able to get the 720 mod done. and I highly recommend it!!!! i love mine. a recessed floyd and 720 mod worked out great for my soloist build. im pretty sure you can get the 720 mod with a non-recessed floyd rout as well! could be wrong though.

  the contoured heal is way cool man! I have one on my soloist, Z, and LPS and love it! works great and looks very classy! shouldnt be any different on a star or explorer. go for it!

I would get a Bill Lawrence L-500.  The Real guy, not BL-USA.  They are cheaper, and that is what was reverse engineered to get the Dimebucker.  Plus, Bill is a really great guy.

P.S. As someone who's done an INSANE amount of research about Schaller Floyd Rose tremolo's - Warmoth has the best prices for them I've found anywhere - I wish I could have bought mine from them!

I got a recessed Schaller FR route for my strat and I love it, everything fits like a glove.

Good luck on your new project, once you get a Warmoth - you'll point and laugh at every $2000+ guitar you see in a music store.  :rock-on:

Yes recessed is a must if you want to pull up on the trem
Yes 720 mod works if rear routed. There is no angled neck with recessed floyds
Contoured heel: Go for it
Wenge = win
