Is there any difference between vintage cloth type wire and "regular" wire in a guitar?

the cloth type is made or (aluminum? nickel?) and the regular kind is copper. does that change the tone?

since its a single conductor cable, i dont think that there is any capacitance differences or anything.

does anybody have a reason to go with one over the other?

i was going to have my bass wired up with cloth style wire from Mojotone.

well, i just ordered 4 feet of black and 4 feet of white.
hopefully they work as well as regular wire.

do i still strip these wires, or do they literally just pull back?
i have only worked with these kind of wires on pickups, where the ends were already prepared.

FA = F*ck all.

"do i still strip these wires, or do they literally just pull back?"

Depends on the wire you get. Some just has an additional cloth wrapper on top of plastic/vinyl, so you have to push back and strip; "vintage" vintage cloth wire you just push back.

ok, i know what you mean.
the wire from my squier jazz bass pickups was like that.
sort of like a regular wire with a piece of cloth braiding on top.

i lost my wire strippers somewhere in the house and i have been stripping with a pair of scissors for months now.
you sort of the get the hang of using scissors after a while.
maybe i should just shell out the 5 bucks for some cheap strippers.
