Hi all,
Just finished a build for a friend for cost of parts only, had to keep it inexpensive. I use Maple Warmoth necks with Ebony fret boards for most builds. This time I had to go cheep so I got an aliexpress neck from China and would just like to give a comparison.
Chinese Neck, not all frets were completely pressed in, had to hammer them in using the back of a screw driver, it worked.
Chinese Neck, cheap small frets not dressed at the sides. Warmoth neck, I use GD 6150 frets they are always perfect out of the box.
Chinese Neck, required truss rod adjustment, to much bow. Warmoth necks bolt on and are ready to play.
Chinese Neck, no predrilled holes.
Chinese Neck, cheep nut.
All other Neck characteristics can be consider as fine.
If you are a musician or building a guitar for a musician you must use a neck with the quality level of Warmoth. If you want to build a guitar for a friend to learn on, the Chinese Neck will do the job.
