true....But the chinese seem to have the market cornered on unuseable junk....The company I work for found that out the hard way too, we had some molds made over there, and we had to seriously modify them in our shop before they would run good parts...They make shyt fast and cheap with little regards to quality and tolerances..

I think I may be the only one who thought of this when I read the subject line:

Well this has little to do with them being chinese, more with production costs being cut everywhere and the workers being paid slave wages and not exactly putting their hearts into their work. It's an untenable situation because the results are not always up to expected standards and the workers get disgruntled - and wages have indeed begun to go up now.

Well anyway, scary photo of that gun!

I go out of my way not to buy Chinese
And no it is not a Union thing, it is a quality thing
I have bought very few things from China that last
Most of the products I class in the use once and throw away class
And I find that just too true, I really have a bad taste in my mouth about it, I started noticing it a few years back that the stuff was cheap, not price wise but in quality of material, it just does not hold up. I have even gone so far as to tell the wife not to buy me anything made in China. The quality is just not there.
Poor materials and bad workmanship.
I was trying to buy a push broom and everyone I picked up was made in China and had cheap thin metal handles I thought would bend easy,  I finally picked one made in Israel that had a decent handle. I think we will see more USA product however as our dollar continues to shrink. And then maybe we can put our country back to work.

At my company we'll sometimes try to get away with selling chinese-made ball bearings, sprockets, and roller chain when we can. It's cheap, available, and we make a good margin on it but more and more we're hearing from customers how it's breaking and wearing out prematurely. I guess it's hypocritical then that I refuse to buy or use anything chinese-made for my personal use. But yeah, just not a good idea to buy chinese stuff. And plus THEY"RE STEALIN OUR OIL!!!

Maybe its the Imperialist American pig-dog in me - but I suddenly feel safer in the world knowing the
"quality" of Chinese firearms and ammo. ...and to think these are the people who invented gunpowder...

The gun was a Smith & Wesson, the ammo was the culprit..But still if they invented gun powder and can't make a bullet, then they haven't gotten very far in evolution...

Ah. Here I thought it was a cheap knock-off, 'cause you know - China doesn''t make things like that.  :laughing7:

It wasn't the chinese ammo, it was the fact he was shooting a gun. Too bad pal.

Y'all have sharks, taipans, funnel web spiders....We got guns... :dontknow:

Whenever I watch "Support Your Local Sheriff" I'm awed by the fact that a hollywood actor or screenwriter knew enough to put a joke about bore obstructions in the movie.

"Get your finger outta my gun! That'da blowed up in my face!"
"Well it wouldn'tve done my finger a hell of a lot of good."

99 times out of 100 when a gun blows up it's not the ammo, it's a bore obstruction. Keep your powder dry and your barrel clean!

That wasn't chinese ammo - it was ammo loaded by the owner of the gun: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1314603 .  One of two things most likely happened here:

1.  the round before this one he missed putting the powder in the shell and the bulletin lodged in the barrel (squib load), then he shot the next round which blew out the top of the cylinder due to the overpressure from the round in the barrel

2.  he double charged the round that blew up the gun creating an overpressure situation.  This is one of the reasons it's suggested to use a powder that will mostly fill the case so that if you do accidentally double charge powder will spill over alerting you to it.
