Cheap guitars that have sparked your interest lately

Lately, I've found myself looking around for an Epiphone Wildkat. I'm normally not a fan of Epi's Les Paul and SG ripoffs, but the hollowbody stuff that the come out with is actually kinda funky.

After doing research and reviews on it, there are a lot of things that really spark my interest. First, you can get a brand new one for $500. The reviews are very consistent about it. The finish and construction are done very well, but the guitar comes short in the department of pickups, and occasionally tuners. For guys like us, these are minor issues that we can tackle in a day or two, and really are ways that you almost like to see things cheapened up (pickups and pots can always be replaced). I really want to find one to test drive of course before I pick one up, mainly to see what kind of neck profile these are cut with.

Is there anything out there for any of you guys that you'd consider inexpensive and interesting at the same time?

not too recent... but i bought one of these a year or so ago. pretty cool! bought it as a mod machine, but still haven't really decided what to do with it :icon_biggrin:

I was within $5 of a used one with a cracked nut on ebay. Very cheap, probably needs all kinds of fun setup work and new electronics. Jay Turser JT-Res, solidbody with a mini bucker and piezo biscuit bridge, can be had under $300.

These guitars seem pretty damn good for the price.

I like to buy old matsumokus for cheap every now and then..
I think that good 70s and 80s Japanese guitars can be great deals and of better quality than way more expensive modern guitars.
