Cases?

For tele's, so far, Fender cases.  Got several classic ones, and Vic got me (and him) a molded one, this last time, and they seem ok too.

SKB Cases.

My personal fav.  http://www.skbcases.com/music/products/proddetail.php?f=&id=22&o=&offset=4&c=75&s=75

They seem to have one to fit every style. It's a good quality case. I by mine online and get a good deal.

I'm a gigbag kinda guy.  I used to use Summit bags before they closed shop.  The RoadRunner cases from GC (with internal frame) are my case of choice unless I'm flying.  I use a golf club case (SKB) as it easily holds two basses and gear in those instances.

I use the $49.95 fender style tweed cases from Guitar Center/Musiciansfriend.com

Those "Fender type tweed cases" are OK and a great deal but only for everyday type use.
For gigging regularly and on the road stuff, get a REAL Fender case....IMHO.....

I just bought a Gator case a while back just because it was a bargan.  I'm really happy with it.  Built solid, looks nice....

My current bass build will go into an Incase slim bag. They're spendy, but the combination of proection and portability is fantastic.

The nicest case I ever had, was a Fender Deluxe Molded case for Strat/Tele.... very nice indeed, but it went with the Maplecaster, when it was bought at any price by one of my customers.

There are lots of good cases out there, and no perfect case either.  The "Canadian Case Co" cases are nice.  Trying to remember who makes the Gibson cases, but they sent me a free lock part once - they're in NC or Tn or something, very nice to deal with and make Fender type cases too.

Agree 100 percent with Vic, that cheapie cases are ok for MOST uses, except gigging.  That is - mostly, a case is used for storage at home, and they're all pretty good for that.  When you need to go out, just slip your axe into "the roadworthy" case you keep for that purpose and rest easy with it.

have you tried this?

I was a bit concerned about the 25-1/2" scale length I used on my Warmoth Les Paul build.  As it turns out, a SKB Les Paul case fit the bill just fine.  In any case, I would personally avoid buying anything on-line unless you are absolutely positive it will fit your axe.  I tried several cases in local stores before I settled on the SKB.
