Case Lining??

I have 2 hard shell cases that I'd like to reline. 1 is a nice enough case but fuzzy liner is thin and cheapy looking. The 2nd is an old Carvin Flying V case that has seen better days & I'd like to rebuild it for a strat I have no hsc for.
My questions are; what can I use for a liner? Can I just go to a material store & buy Fake Fur? Or will some fakes harm the guitar finish?
I've looked at SM & they have case hardware but couldn't see anything about liner material.
Any and all relevent advise would be appreciated.
Those of you who post everything just to see your name up in lights will be tolerated.

Sorry if  this is a redundent ? I did a search and came back empty.

I do not know a lot about guitar case linings.  I remember seeing a youtube video on how to make a guitar case that talked about the kind of lining he used in the video.  If you did a search for making a guitar case I am sure you would find it.  I know you have to be careful of the material as some of them will bleed there color onto whatever is resting on them.

A relative used to call it monkey fur - because it was black and shaggy and stinks to high heaven when you open a new case.
