Carved top soloist???

Double laminate tops are the norm for years, if I'm correct from 2009. The new carved tops in Soloist and Telecasters (maybe other bodies too) have less carving.

You are correct, it was from 2009.  I have two carved-top VIPs made right after Warmoth went to the "dual-lam" technique.

I'd like the option of a deeper carve with opaque finishes.

Probably the top lam has become thinner then.

Just looked at the Showcase carved top Soloists.  Pretty nice.  The carving seems to be a bit smoother than the old style.  I have one of the old ones:  mahogany body with a maple pinstripe and bloodwood top.  The contour of the carving seems to be a bit more angular than the new style.
