Car polisher on lacquer question

I was wanting to know if a car polisher would eventually give a lacquer sprayed guitar a gloss mirror finish.

The lacquer I used is the Deft gloss lacquer. https://www.amazon.com/Deft-Interior-Lacquer-12-25-Ounce-Aerosol/dp/B001005IWE/ref=sr_1_6?crid=26VD2HV0DE2XM&keywords=deft+lacquer&qid=1657225386&s=hi&sprefix=deft+lacquer%2Ctools%2C214&sr=1-6

Wet sanded to 1500 grit.

Polished with Meguire's polish. https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Mirror-Glaze-Fine-Cut-Cleaner/dp/B0002SQVDK/ref=sr_1_15_mod_primary_new?keywords=mcguire%2Bpolish&qid=1657225495&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sr=8-15&th=1

And with a black and decker polisher. https://www.amazon.com/DECKER-WP900-6-Inch-Random-Polisher/dp/B000077CPT/ref=sr_1_2?crid=375LSBPAZ2J6T&keywords=black+and+decker+polisher&qid=1657225672&sprefix=black+and+decker+polisher%2Caps%2C309&sr=8-2

If I let the polisher set on the guitar for a long period of time without pressing down would the guitar eventually reach a mirror shine?

While I can’t say you’ll get what you want; the amount of time you let a polisher abrasive sit doesn’t matter.  It’s a passive item only utilized with labor.  It’s not going to miraculously make a difference if it on there for 1 min, 1 hour, 1 day.

I used a car polisher (a different style though and with a smaller head) to polish the lacquer on my singlecut build and it turned out really well! I used Stewmac "colortone" lacquer and polishes though.

Make sure you give the lacquer plenty of time to cure (as in at least a couple weeks)

I used an industrial car polisher we use at work and 3M Finesse-it on the last one I built.  Came out great but like others have said, wait for the lacquer to fully dry or you will end up with a gummy mess.  I think mine took about 4-5 weeks to dry out.  I would not just set the polisher on top of the guitar for any length of time, heat build-up is not your friend.
