Can't get the knob on the pot

The pot near the switch is a RS Guitarworks custom taper 280k pot. The other one is a 250k CTS pot, I think.
The knob on the pot near the switch won't go down all the way.

Any ideas? I'll try to get pics soon.

280's the problem

The pot goes on fine, until a sudden stop. I'm guessing if it was able to be fixed with squeezing, or a bit of force would help a little bit,

Did you try squeezing the end with pliers? Is it split shaft?

the difference is the measurement . . . metric vs. standard , so the afore mentioned remedy from Go Drex applies
if this is the problem .

maybe it's on as far as it can go and you need to lower it inside the body cavity by adjusting the nut that's in there... I hope that makes sense. There should be two nuts on the pot - one on top of the body, one inside the cavity. Maybe you can adjust the bottom one to lower the pot a little, and that will make the knob equal with the other one.

Pictures. I can measure anything you want.
The shafts on the pots are the same height and width. I can measure anything you guys want.

looks like the pot shaft on the left has an bit of a lip at the bottom. I'd just adjust it so they were the same height be raising up the other one a little and tightening it down..

or remove one of those nuts from the taller one - you don't need two nuts on the top like that anyway.

I don't think there's any reason why the knob needs to go on past that little lip

OK, first the stupid question. Have you tried reversing the knobs to make sure that the difference is in the pots rather than the inside shape of the knobs?

Now that that's out of the way, it looks like there's a small lip right under the splined area on the left side pot. Is the knob hitting that lip? If so, you could probably remove a little material from the inside of the knob to allow it to push on further.

Good luck,

Did you try removing the set screw in the side of the knob altogether?  Youll be able to see any obstruction through it when the knobs on

Moved the nuts around, and it was fixed. Thanks, everyone

Yeah, I checked the set screws before I posted. I meant to ask how to keep the pots from moving, but I got it the wrong way, and now they're not moving, and the knobs look right.

Been really caught up with schoolwork lately. Maybe this weekend I'll see if I'm done filling the grain, then start shooting nitro. Nothing interesting right now. Oh, wait. I got parts.

I'd just like to add:

If you're going to squeeze the prongs together, be aware that some pots are very brittle.  I was very gentle with the pots on my explorer, and I still snapped 2/3 of them putting new knobs on....
